This picture shows the resilience of bamboo. The rhizome hit the trunk of the nearby palm, curved upward and sent out new shoots!

Bamboo for You
Did you know that Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens used to be a USDA plant introduction station? As a USDA station, bamboo was primarily tested on the property for various industrial and agricultural uses at the turn of the 20th century. At peak production there were between 115 and 120 varieties of bamboo on the property and thus we became known locally as "The Bamboo Farm" a name still used by the locals. We have saved many of the historic bamboos planted on the property and continue to enjoy this very versatile plant.
