Bamboo for You
Did you know that Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens used to be a USDA plant introduction station? As a USDA station, bamboo was primarily tested on the property for various industrial and agricultural uses at the turn of the 20th century. At peak production there were between 115 and 120 varieties of bamboo on the property and thus we became known locally as "The Bamboo Farm" a name still used by the locals. We have saved many of the historic bamboos planted on the property and continue to enjoy this very versatile plant.

Gardening Workshops
Don't forget! Our Introduction to Water Gardening workshop is tomorrow, September 28th from 10:30 until 12:30. $10 per person cash or checks only.
Deer and Dry Shade ♠
Dwarf conifers are among the best woody plants for gardens in our area, and aren’t browsed on by those darn deer! Learn which conifers are superb to have in a foundation bed or general landscape’s mixed border. And, what about dry shade (that shady spot with dry soil under large trees)? Learn which plants can tough it out under trees and survive with fierce tree root competition for moisture. Both topics will introduce you to less common plants to add to your Southern landscape. Try to out-smart the deer and win with a living garden around the big live oak tree! Call 912-921-5460 to register!
Instructor: Philip Schretter
